Wanting to sale a braille star braille display. all cells on it work though I can't remember the exact number of cells (I will however, get anyone that info if they're interested.), it's an older model (gotten it back in 2004) so a discount price for sure. plus, it works just fine. Outwardly, it does looked used however I have all the cables that came with it. If anyone's interested in knowing more just reply or send me a pm.
I'd like to know how many cells, how it connects to the computer and any other info about it you can gather up, thanks.
Hey guys
One thing everyone should keep in mind, for Jaws users with 64-bit machines.
Freedom Scientific will only run drivers they sign (and charge braile display companies $9000 for the first year and $5000 thereafter).
Some manufacturers do not appear to be willing to cough up that money, so some displays do not work with Jaws 11 and above on 64-bit Windows machines (not sure about BraileStar, know it's not in the list of compatible screens in Jaws, but it is possible there is a driver somewhere else).
Also some older models of Braille Displays simply don't work in 64-bit environments, and either have to be upgraded, which can be expensive, or simply can't be used any more.
I believe this is not an issue yet with Supernova, but I do nnot know about Window Eyes.
Basically, everyone, just make sure any dislay you buy works with the screen reader software you have, becuse I don't think anyone wants to get into buying something that doesn't work for them, nor would a seller want to deal with that.
Cheers and good luck, this is no warning on this prticular model, only that anyone wanting to buy it needs to make sure it works as they expect with their set up.

Thanks for that, I have Jaws 11 and use NVDA as my primary, all on 32 bit systems, two copies of XP and one running vista, so shouldn't be a problem, but will look into it with NVDA for sure.
Mostly want it to practice the braille i'm learning and use it to read my own writings, it kills the tone of as tory having the toneless SR synth do it.
Thanks again for that info.
Hey Brew,
Thank you so much for that info! I really appreciate that because I had no idea of it myself. I will be posting the info soon.
Thanks a lot!
Cool, np guys, didn't want anyone to hve to deal with this after the fact.
My Alva Satellite 584 display is absolete and won't work on a 64-bit system.
Forunately i have a Focus 80,and I just keep my 32-bit Windows 7 computer for a backup, or run Supernova with it (even on 64-bit systems Supernova uses 32-bit braille display support).
